Bake Sale

Did you watch Close Up on Wednesday night? One of our families was featured sharing their story to raise funds for Starship Hospital.

In the holidays Mum and Marioni have to travel to Dunedin for more treatment. Barfoot & Thompson are going to do a fundraiser to try and get Dad, Joe and Susana to go as well. They would like to do a cake stall next Thursday (last day of school) down in the township. Our school Jump Jam teams are going to go down to perform on the stage. Please show your support and head down to the town centre on Thursday and buy a cake or make a donation. It’s 9.30 – 11 am.

Can you help?

Room 12 are creating hand-made cards for the Summer Carnival.

We are going to use paper shapes and stamped designs, then collage them together to make some creative works of art.

Are you able to help us with any materials?  We have lots of coloured paper, and the light cardboard to make the cards out of.  If you can help us with any of the following items, please send them to school with your child.
* Paper 'punchies' - not the punch itself, just a whole lot of punched out shapes so that we can collage them.
* Stamped designs - again not the actual stamp, but would you please be able to stamp a whole lot of designs onto paper or light card so that we can cut them out?
* Scrapbooking paper scraps.  Maybe we can upcycle your offcuts?
* Envelopes (to fit an A5 size card folded in half A6???)
* Any other craft items that you think would be useful.

We are having 'crafternoons' each Thursday from 2:00- 2:55 so if you are a crafty person and would like to come and help us please let Mrs. McKay know.

Thank you in advance.

Here are some craft items we have already received, thanks PTA!!!

Connect with Room 12!

Connect with Room 12!
A strong home-school relationship is essential to enhancing your child’s learning.
We want to make the process of keeping in touch with your child’s learning as easy as possible!
Our classroom is taking part in a school-based trial to see if providing parent/caregivers with updates via text messages about what is happening in the classroom is useful.
To be part of the trial and to get all the notices & updates relating to your child’s classroom & learning programmes, all you have to do is send the following TEXT:
follow room12waiuku
to 8987
[Please note, no capitals, no spaces except between follow and waiuku, please also do not include the speech marks]
This may not work for parents/caregivers on the 2 Degrees network..

Please note, you cannot reply to these messages and your cell phone number privacy is assured (this is an automated service designed to keep you informed).
You can make the texts stop at any time by texting “OFF @room12waiuku” to 8987
So go on, try out our new service!
We would love to know what you think & look forward to your feedback. Feel free to see me if you have any problems or difficulties.
I look forwards to keeping in touch with you more regularly!
Kind regards,
Mrs. McKay, Room 12 Teacher

baby photos

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As part of our topic study this term Room 12 are completing a social skills programme called “Reaching Forward’”.
As part of our learning we are looking at ‘who we are’ and things that can change about people. For our session on Monday can you please supply your child with a baby photo or non recent photo of themselves so that we can discuss change and what makes us unique?
If you prefer, you can email a photo that can be printed out by Mrs. McKay to gemmam@waiuku.school.nz.

Thanks,

Mrs. McKay

Stationery Labels

How to label your exercise books.

Please ensure that your homework book is covered with Duraseal or similar as these books have quite a lot of wear and tear! It is optional if you would like to cover your 'in class' books, however children who have distinctive book coverings are able to find their own book quickly and easily when they are stored on the exercise book shelves.

1WB Exercise Books (a.k.a 1I5)
1 - Writing
2 - Reading
3 - Spelling
4 - Handwriting
5 - Topic
6 - Homework (please cover this book)

WA4 Exercise Book (a.k.a 1B8)
1 - Poetry (this will be coming home weekly, so you may wish to cover it also)

JMB Quad Book (a.k.a 1H5)
1 - Maths

Please name all of your child's other stationary items clearly.

Thanks

Mrs. McKay
